“A huge voice and a personality to match. She has become both a local favorite and an artist to watch.” - New Haven Register
With a voice that holds the weight of lived experiences, Thabisa has carved a space uniquely her own in the world of music. Her evocative compositions explore the highs and lows of life, capturing moments of joy, heartache, and everything in between. Her songs are an exploration—a heartfelt invitation to travel with her through stories both personal and shared.
Her journey as a performer began on the stages of South Africa, reaching the Top 18 of Idols South Africa in 2012 and earning a Best Video nomination at the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA). This was just the beginning of a career defined by relentless passion and a deep connection to her roots.
Thabisa’s cinematic voice and powerful storytelling have graced stages across continents, from intimate jazz clubs in New York to the expensive New Haven Green of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Her 2023 Alive Tour showcased her dynamic range, cementing her status as an international sensation.
Now, as she crafts her third album—a bold fusion of Afro-soul, jazz, and Afrobeat—Thabisa continues to push artistic boundaries. Her latest work is set to be a mesmerizing journey through captivating rhythms and heartfelt stories that speak to the soul.
Beyond music, Thabisa is deeply committed to leadership and community impact. She is the founder and President of the board at Rich Arts Collective and the former President of the board at CT Folk. Her influence extends to theater, where she starred as 'Mother' in On My Block: Passing Strange, and to community leadership, where her contributions have been recognized with awards like the Mahaffey Arts Fellowship and a nomination for Connecticut State Troubadour.
What’s next for Thabisa? As she gears up to release her new album and take her live performances to even greater heights, she remains a beacon of authenticity—an artist on a mission to connect, heal, and inspire through her music.
